Finally, it’s a done deal! And it’s official now that Gernot Rohr, the Super Eagles coach will stay on in his coaching position till 2022. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the extension of Gernot Rohr’s contract.
Gernot has been in charge of Nigeria since 2016 and he’s hoping to guide Nigeria to continental and global football glory. But after his third place finish at the Africa Cup of Nations last year in Egypt. Gernot’s future was hanging by a thread. And for months, he’s been the subject of attention in the Nigerian sporting media.
But on Wednesday, the NFF handed Gernot a deal which secures his future till 2022. The Franco-German coach has put pen-to-paper on a new two-and-a-half year contract extension.
“I’m happy to announce that the @thenff and Coach Gernot Rohr have concluded all contractual discussions and he will stay on as Coach of the Super Eagles. We have always had confidence in his abilities and we are confident that the national team can only go higher from here.” the NFF boss, Amaju Pinnick tweeted.
The 66-year-old coach is expected to deliver more fulfilling results in the next two years.
