Nigeria’s premier sporting Polo Club, Lagos Polo Club is mourning the death of a well-loved polo player and longtime member, Sani Dangote, who passed on Sunday, 14th November, 2021.
Tributes have been paid to Sani Dangote, who was a famous member of the prestigious Lagos Polo Club and the younger brother of Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man. He has been described by Lagos Polo Club as ‘a perfect kind gentleman at all times where he was loved by all’.
The famous Lagos Polo Club took to Instagram on Monday to drop a heartfelt message in honour of Sani Dangote aka ‘The Long Shooter and ‘General’.
“It is with a deep sorrow that we announce the death of our beloved member and past President, Alhaji Sani Dangote who sadly passed away on Sunday 14th November 2021. Alhaji Sani Dangote was a great player and member of the Lagos Polo Club for many years. He was President of our Club(2000 to 2004) where he contributed immensely to the development of the Lagos Polo Club and polo in Nigeria”.
The Polo continued: “On the polo field Alhaji Sani was popularly known as ‘The Long Shooter’ and the ‘General’ as he marshalled the defence of his victorious teams. Off the field, Alhaji Sani was a perfect kind gentleman at all times where he was loved by all. He will be sorely missed”. Lagos Polo Club wrote.
Famous for his humility, Sani Dangote, a passionate polo player, was a two-time president of the Lagos Polo Club. Sani Dangote is the group vice-president of Dangote Industries Limited and sits on the board of several companies in Nigeria.
