Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello’s commendable legislative strides

Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello, the unassuming federal lawmaker representing the people of Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency of Kogi State and a member of Nigeria’s 9th Assembly at the lower legislative chamber is no doubt one of Kogi’s shining lights in politics.

Famous for his service to humanity, JAB as he is fondly called by admirers is quietly walking his talk and steadily adding value to his constituents with multiple pro-poor projects across all the wards in Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency. Buoyed by his excellent track record as a successful engineer of over 17 years of valuable experience, Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello came on stream with a reputation for excellence – and a clear mission to turn around the socio economic status of the teeming constituents of Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency.

Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello who strolled into national prominence about 2 years ago after his landslide victory in the 2019 general elections might be walking his way to historic reckoning in the history of Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency going by the impressive list of projects facilitated and completed by him in the last 2 years or so of his legislative assignment. Following his 5 pillars campaign ranging from Education; Youth & Empowerment; Healthcare; Public Safety and Infrastructure – it has been a story of his word, his bond.

For Rep Joseph, one of the most important areas of his attention is the educational sector where he is committing a huge chunk of the people’s resources in providing the school children in his constituency the requisite educational tools and support for them to soar. For instance, under the school renovation project for the people of Adavi/Okehi, Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello has renovated a number of schools which include the newly renovated and well-equipped block of classrooms in Ege Community Secondary School in Adavi, Kogi State.

Besides this, the lawmaker is at the forefront of efforts to ensure the compulsory teaching of vocational studies in all Secondary Schools in Nigeria. The bill sponsored by Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello is one of the major highlights of his last 2 years of inspiring legislative adventure. And as if that’s not enough, the likeable lawmaker as part of efforts to encourage learning in his constituency empowered over 3000 students with various educational materials ranging from textbooks, notebooks, dictionaries, mathematical sets, school sandals and bags, and other items.

Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello has also done a lot in the areas of infrastructural development and securing employments for his constituents. For instance, over 12 communities have benefited from 12 borehole water projects provided by Hon. Joseph Asuku in 12 communities within Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency.

Described as a breath of fresh air in the scheme of things in Kogi politics, Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello has continued to be a blessing to his constituents in terms of gainful employments in important sectors of the Nigerian economy. Recently, the ever-smiling lawmaker secured employments for 40 people from his Adavi/Okehi federal constituency.

Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello, son of revered late Sir Hon. Justice Moses Abu Bello, KSG, JP, OFR, FICM, the Pioneer President of the Customary Court of Appeal, FCT, Abuja who recently passed on in a blaze of glory is proving that indeed the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. He was educated at Federal University of Technology Minna where he obtained Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. An alumni of Loughborough University, United Kingdom, UK, where he obtained his MSc in Construction Management. Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello is a member of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), member of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He is also a proud member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Hon. Joseph Asuku Bello’s projects are being felt everywhere in his constituency. No doubt, his pro-poor style of politics has endeared him to the people of Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency.
