The Rise and Rise Story of Kwara’s New First Lady, Folake Abdulrazaq

It’s no longer news that power has changed hands in Kwara today and in the next couple of days, the new sheriff in town would assume leadership of the state.

For Kwara, it’s a new beginning and expectedly there is a renewed optimism among the people as the May 29th inauguration ceremony day draws closer.

However, what many don’t know is the woman behind the most powerful man in Kwara at the moment. Who is the new Kwara’s first lady? What’s her academic background? What’s her antecedent?

Kwara’s new first lady is no one but one of Nigeria’s epitome of beauty and brain, Folake Abdulrazaq. She is a top shot at the Foreign Affairs Ministry – a top diplomat extraordinaire with over 25 years experience at the top echelon of Nigeria’s diplomatic circle.

She is not just your regular run-of-the mill diplomat. The beautiful woman of substance is known for her long history of excellence in foreign relations. Folake, who is easily identified by her trademark sunglasses, hails from a prominent Lagos family, the Davies family.

During the electioneering campaign, the left-handed diplomat was a pillar of strength for her man. In spite of her busy engagements, she helped her husband appeal to women and took part in the whole electioneering process.

Folake Abdulrazaq was the Minister/Head of Consular, Education and Welfare, Nigeria High Commission in London. She was also the Minister/Deputy Head Industry, Trade and Investment, Nigeria High Commission, London in 2015.

The top diplomat was at a time the Assistant Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja. She has held other important positions as well.

Best known for her stylish fashion statements. She is also a woman full of high taste for fashion and panache. Her bright personality has won her a wide network of friends.

How about her circle of friends?

Her close friends include some of her diplomatic family like Zara Iya. Another close ally of the new first lady is the beautiful  Samira Sheriff and Victoria Minaise – the adorable Lebanese owner of popular Abuja cafe, Café de Vie.

Boardroom colossus, Hajia Bola Shagaya is another high profile big ‘sister’ of the new first lady.

The new first lady is blessed with three lovely boys.
